Sharing his experiences with Channel NewsAsia on his new role as chairman of the Future Industries Council, he said he is planning a series of talks and presentations at the National Maritime Institute (NMI), the India Logistics Cluster and the Indian Shipping Association (ISAA), to explain the opportunities of the next phase of the containerization era and the role of logistics providers.

“For example, for supplying goods to India, because of the pace of the country’s infrastructure growth, we need not put it on a ship, instead we can pack it in containers and distribute it locally in the country,” Jethmalani told reporters on the sidelines of the Sustainable Logistics Innovation Conference.

“We are going to put out an expression of interest by the India Logistics Cluster and ISAA to start some programs on how to do this. And if anyone wants to do business with us, they should come and talk to us, and share what their logistics systems are,” he said.
Jethmalani also said that a lot of the “top companies” in India are now “looking to go global”.

“They are looking to expand and going into new areas and these top companies are going to create top logistics companies.
